Sail with Jazz legend
Herbie Hancock is one of the most influential jazz musicians of our time
An exciting opportunity to listen to Herbie’s talent on a selection of Cunard Blue Note jazz events is happening on board Queen Mary 2 from 1st to 8th August 2016.
This talented artist is performing three, 45-minutes intimate shows in The Royal Court Theatre, on board Queen Mary 2. It is an 8-nights crossing from Southampton to New York and will be a memorable trip for Jazz music lovers.
The legendary jazz pianist and composer, who wrote the very first jazz album ever to go platinum, spoke about his excitement in performing on board the world’s only ocean liner;
“Some members of my band sailed on the first Queen Mary 2 Blue Note voyage in November this year and had an amazing time. I am really looking forward to sailing across the Atlantic on such an iconic ship and sharing some great music with everyone on board."
Interestingly, the jazz musicians career spans over an amazing 50 years with 14 Grammy® Awards under his belt, including Album of the Year for River: The Joni Letters. Miles Davis, one of the greatest jazz musicians of the 20th century gave his view on Herbie: “the step after Bud Powell and TheIonious Monk, and I haven't heard anybody yet who has come after him."
Of course, during the westbound transatlantic crossing Herbie will be accompanied by his loyal band members, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, bassist James Genus and guitarist Lionel Loueke. The music will be awesome!
Balcony Staterooms can be booked with a Cunard Fare on this crossing. Prices start from £1,829 per person including all flights and transfers.
