If your New Year’s resolution is to get fit and enjoy the great outdoors then look no further than the Lake District. There are numerous events to encourage the less active and those who are ready for true adventure!

Below highlights just a few events:

The Mighty Corinthian: great for bike enthusiasts

Get ready to cycle the world’s longest bike ride. At 300km The Mighty Corinthian is just like a one day classic from back in the day and the longest one day classic bike ride in the world! Big distances, lots of climbing, spectacular locations – all ridden on vintage steel bicycles in period kit!

The Mighty Corinthian boasts stunning Lake District landscapes, including coastal plains, wild moors, gently rolling fields, picture-perfect villages, the odd mountain pass and pretty lakes. Participants can expect a steady pace, this is not a competition but a fun experience with like-minded enthusiasts.

Coniston End To End: ideal for water babies

Long distance open water swimming is most definitely a challenge and feels amazing at the finish!

Travelling the length of a lake from one end to the other, swimming across a channel, or completing a swim from one set point to another gives the swim meaning.  No lake is worth swimming unless you swim across it! Chillswim Coniston is a mass participation, fully supported swim the full 5.25 miles length of Coniston Water, in the Lake District.

You cannot beat a dip in Coniston Water!

Ladies of the Lake Sportive: one for the gals!

This women-only sportive is super fun. Two routes are available which follow the shores of Coniston Water. The shorter route is perfect for participants new to the event.
