January photo competition winner: James gets your vote
James Murphy’s winning January photo of Southsea’s snowy promenade
We have a winner! Congratulations to James Murphy for winning the January photo competition. After a vote-off of the 12 finalists, you overwhelmingly chose his picture of a snowy promenade scene on Southsea seafront, in Portsmouth.
His entry received over 23% of the hundreds of votes cast, with the moody Eastriggs graveyard picture by Lok Yee Pang coming second (17% of votes) and Bex Saunders' icicles photo, entitled Ice, in third place with just over 14%.
James, a student at Portsmouth University who is a keen amateur photographer, wins a copy of the Insight Guide to Travel Photography, worth £14.99, courtesy of Insight Guides.
The unsuccessful January finalists still stand a chance of winning, however. They are joining the rest of the January entries and all the entries we received in February for a public vote to choose the February final 12 - with another vote deciding who wins the second Insight guide up for grabs.
Go to tlm’s February competition gallery on Facebook, here, to view all the pictures. Choose your favourite three and then go to the voting page on the tlm website, here. Hurry, though. You only have until midnight on March 11 to register your top three.
