It is especially beautiful in the winter season and early spring months. There are many events planned in 2016 and sun-seekers will not be disappointed with beaches to visit just a 30-minutes drive from the city.

New Year's Eve, Portuguese style!

Visitors can mix in with the locals on the 31st December when Praça do Comércio hosts street entertainment, music performances and a colourful fireworks display for everybody to enjoy free of charge. Revellers can join in with an age old Portuguese tradition and eat 12 raisins, one for each month of the year, as the clock strikes midnight!

Lisbon Carnival

February 2016 (exact dates tbc)

You cannot beat Lisbon for Carnival fun. The streets will be crowded with excited visitors and the atmosphere will be electric.  Celebrated every year with a number of street parties and free events across the city, the highlight is the Carnival Parade.  This exhilarating event takes place on Shrove Tuesday (9th February). Visitors can see sparkling costumes, awesome masks, and of course, lots of confetti!

Monstra (Lisbon Animated Film Festival)

3rd to 13th March 2016

If you enjoy animated films, then do not miss the Monstra festival. Visitors can enjoy documentaries, cartoons, short films and the latest 3D and computer productions. Aimed at both adults and young people with its “Monstrinha” version, the 2016 edition of Monstra will screen up to 500 films over 10-days.  It will include workshops and master classes to delight audiences.
