The ‘wow’ factor: Located at Dents-du-Midi, Whitepod was awarded with the World Prize for Sustainable Tourism in 2005. An highly original concept, it offers an unique and unforgettable experience, in a beautiful mountainside environment. No less than 15 spacious (40sq m) and luxurious geodesic domes (the whitepods) are based on the high mountain pasture with an unrivalled view of Lake Geneva. Furnished with stylish and antique objects from the region, the Scandinavian designed bathrooms are fed directly by warmed spring water and wood stoves guarantee high comfort levels and warmth throughout the day and night. Did you know? You can book a whitepod for summer occupancy too (from £305 per night). They are exceedingly well insulated. The elevation is between 1,400m and 1,700m. The site features its own seven kms of private ski slopes and a dedicated chairlift.
Getting there: The site is accessible by both public or private transport, although transfers can be arranged from Geneva airport. Geneva can be reached from Gatwick, Heathrow or London City airports by regular services costing from around £115 return.
