The site originally was a Tudor Palace built by Henry VIII in 1538, and was established as a hotel in 1856. To this day, guests have reported seeing ghosts in the hotel, including the Grey Lady in a crinoline dress, typical of the 17th century. But there’s no need to worry, the lady does not cause any harm! She sweeps slowly and regally across the floor of the restaurant, disappearing through the wall on the west side of the hotel…

The Halloween Afternoon menu includes some spooky treats, including The Brain, a Red Velvet and White Chocolate ‘Brain’cake, Boo-rownie with Marshmallow and Chocolate Brownie, Drizzling Spider, lemon drizzle Cupcakes topped with a (delicious) spider web, and the Graveyard Mousse with Pear Mousse, Chocolate Soil and Shortbread Thumb.
