Summer in Greenwich
Put those screens away and join a fun sport, skate or climbing session at your local leisure centre, sign up to a creative workshop with Futureversity, or attend a community event for the whole family at your nearest children’s centre or library. All available activities are listed by date on the Royal Greenwich website, along with sign-up details and any requirements.
There are activities available for children from birth up to 18 years old; young adults with special educational needs and disabilities are eligible up to 25 years old.
Free nutritious meals all holiday
Having a regular meal daily is important for growing minds, so we have once again teamed up with Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency (GCDA), Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), and Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) to make sure that there is an opportunity for young people in our borough to have a fresh, nutritious free meal cooked for them every day, at multiple locations spread across the borough.
Cllr Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Community Safety, said: “It’s our pleasure to be able to offer free holiday meals to young people across our borough during the summer break once again. Ensuring that young people continue to develop outside of school is vitally important and making sure they have regular, nourishing meals is a crucial part of this.”
Children under 10 must be accompanied at the youth clubs and children under six will need to be accompanied at the adventure playgrounds. See our website for a full timetable of dates and locations.
Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are always very welcome at leisure centres, libraries and children’s centres in our borough, and there are a number of classes and activities arranged over the summer holidays with them in mind.
There are also several tailored professional courses and activities on offer through Futureversity and Young Greenwich this summer, to expand the minds of young people with SEND, up to the age of 25 (or up to 18 for all other young people).
