Out and About in August

For some family-friendly summer holiday fun head to the Meraki Festival from the 10th to the 12th August. While the line-up is still a closely guarded secret, we do know that the festivities will feature three stages of top live music from rock and pop, to folk and soul. Get your tickets fast, because this all-inclusive event takes the festival experience to the next level, with activities including laser tag, a roller disco, family-friendly fun and a little R&R in the form of a blissful festival spa.

Spice up your life at the Benington Chilli Festival from the 25th to the 27th August, perfect for the chilli aficionados amongst us. 60 stalls of chilli traders, sensationally spicy food and cocktails, chilli plants and plenty of entertainment are all on the menu at this year’s festival. For the real spice-seekers, it’s time to test your mettle in the infamous chilli eating competition, but get in there quick, because only a select few will have the honour of testing their taste buds!

Sounds & Sizzles in September

Britpop fans will not want to miss out on tickets to this one! Knebworth Park, the background for so many iconic events in British music, will once again host some of the very best in British rock and dance at the Cool Britannia Festival from the 31st August to the 2nd September.  Celebrate an epic era of music with headline acts including the Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene. Get ready to dance your way through the nineties and noughties with an incredible supporting line-up that includes artists such as Razorlight, the Lightning Seeds and Toploader.

From the 15th to 16th September, indulge in a gourmet food and drink festival celebrating the creme de la creme of Hertfordshire's restaurants, pubs and street food. At Eat your Hert out you will be able to sample food from right on your doorstep, dance to live music and shake it up with cocktail masterclasses. Festival goers are also advised to keep their eyes peeled for a very special Great British Bake Off guest! 

The St Albans Food and Drink Festival takes place from the 26th September to the 8th October, boasting over a week of festivities that showcase the fantastic range of food, drink and produce available throughout St Albans District. With so many excellent eateries and delightful drinking holes, the festival is a great time to try something new and unique. The CAMRA Beer Festival and Street Festival are excellent excuses to test out your tasting skills, while the experts will have their say at the Food and Drink Awards on the final day of the festival.
