Why not Race the Train? 16th August 2014 in Tywyn, Mid Wales
It is a rather unique running event and follows the route taken by the Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn and back. Runners will literally be racing against a steam train!
The route follows a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, farm land and uneven pastures. There is no time to worry about whether or not you can complete the race as you will be running along difficult terrain, which is often very wet and super muddy! It is a given that decent effort will be needed to run up some very steep hills on route.
Why not book a ticket on the train for family and friends to support you during the race and to offer much needed encouragement? Plenty of activities will be laid on including children’s amusements, inspiring displays by the Police, Fire Service, Coast Guards, Outward Bound and Snowdonia National Park. This all day event runs into the evening and refreshments and a bar will be available throughout.
The official charity for Race the Train! is Action for Children which helps vulnerable and neglected children – a very worthy cause and certainly worth running for.
