MBNA Thames Clippers hosts Illuminated River tours
The first four bridges, London, Cannon Street, Southwark and Millennium bridges are now lit. MBNA Thames Clippers is partnering with the Illuminated River Foundation to put on a series of guided tours to experience the light installation from the best possible vantage point. City of London Guides and experts from Historic England will give you a unique insight into these great landmarks of London.
Using the latest LED technology to ‘paint with light’ and taking influence from the natural and social activity of the river, Illuminated River artist Leo Villareal produces sequenced patterns subtly play across the bridge structures. The artwork engages specifically with the site of each bridge, respecting and revealing their distinctive histories and architectural features.
The new public art installation is to be enjoyed by Londoners, commuters and visitors alike. Join MBNA Thames Clippers from 29 August 2019 with tours also available throughout September, to enjoy Illuminated River at its best. The 30 minute evening tours depart from Tower Pier or London Bridge City Pier, depending on tour date. Tours are £6 per adult, £4.50 concessions; priced as low as possible in order to be accessible for the widest possible audience.
