Now in its 9th year, the Festival, which welcomes international artists from all over the world including the US, Algeria, Africa, Portugal and the UK, is proud to announce The Commitments as its headline act.

Headed up by former Coronation Street star Kevin “Curly Watts” Kennedy, the line up features many of the performers who were in the original West End cast.

Their performance will take place on the 28th July at the Marlin, Terme Beach Resort.

2016's Festival saw Ravenna hosting 31 live concerts across 14 locations. Performers included Ruthie Foster and Brooklyn Funk Essentials from the US; Frankie Chavez from Portugal, Faris Amine from Algeria and Primo Nelson from the UK.

Ravenna, renowned as the resting place of Dante, father of the Italian language, is the site of the Basilica di San Vitale whose gold mosaics are said to have inspired Gustav Klimt. Ravenna also boasts no less than eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Ravenna is also home to another quite different annual arts event, namely The Ravenna Festival (25th May – 11th July 2017), one of Europe's most prestigious and acclaimed performance arts festivals. This event is characterised by a wide-ranging programme embracing all the performing arts from symphonic and chamber music to opera and theatre, from dance to ethnic music performed by some of the greatest artists of our age.

Terme Beach Resort is a modern, single-storey wooden property located directly on its own 80-meter stretch of sandy beach overlooking the Adriatic. This independent hotel prides itself on its high level of customer service and 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Being situated above mineral rich thermal springs has also given rise to the hotel's spa and wellness annex offering a variety of treatments along with an indoor swimming pool maintained at a constant 33 degrees.

The property has worked hard over the past few years to strengthen its ties with Ravenna's top events, helping them to not only promote themselves internationally, but also providing them with additional live venue options.

The Commitments will perform at the property's in-house restaurant Marlin which reflects the culinary signature of the region by offering freshly prepared seafood sourced daily from the local boats fishing in the waters of the Adriatic.

A further advantage of staying at Terme Beach Resort is the fact that the property can book any number of services for its guests including tickets to the Ravenna and Spiagge Soul Festivals, car hire, local restaurant reservations and airport and local transfers.

A stay at Terme Beach Resort can be booked directly through the hotel with lead in prices starting from 190 Euros per night for two people for a double, sea view room with breakfast.

Ravenna is easily accessed via Bologna Airport located just under an hour's drive away. Travellers can choose from numerous daily direct flight options from either Gatwick or Heathrow with carriers including British Airways, RyanAir and EasyJet.
