London Bridge Hotel, Southwark
The London Bridge Hotel is an independent 4-star boutique hotel, exceptionally conveniently situated next to London Bridge Station, in the London Borough of Southwark. We stayed as part of a leisure trip, but it is equally suitable for business travellers, combining comfort and style with the modern technology required to support the demands of work. It was exciting to read about some of the archaeological finds found when the hotel was developed, which dated back to Roman times.
Our room was exceptionally comfortable, and the large, bed, complete with luxurious duvet and soft pillows certainly contributed to the good night’s sleep we enjoyed. Complete with flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, mineral water and superior complementary toiletries, it afforded us with a superb view of some of the area’s famous sights, including the Shard and Borough Market. Southwark has been impressively rejuvenated in recent years and has many exciting attractions, including restaurants, galleries and theatres.
We sampled some expertly mixed cocktails in the hotel’s Quarter bar prior to enjoying a delicious dinner in the Londinium restaurant. The relaxed ambience was enhanced by the tasteful contemporary design and crisp white table linen. We were spoilt for choice from the extensive menu, but were pleased with our final decisions. The seabass was cooked to perfection, and accompanied by a selection of vegetables, whilst the signature fish and chips dish included crispy battered plaice and chips cooked perfectly. Accompanied by a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from the wide wine menu we certainly left feeling satiated.
Breakfast the next morning included an extensive choice from the buffet, including “full English”, fruits, cereals and continental choices. We left feeling relaxed and appreciating the proximity to some of London’s finest and most famous attractions.
