Located in the heart of London and central to Soho, Covent Garden and Oxford Street, myhotel Bloomsbury is a luxurious fourstar hotel, in the vicinity of Bedford Square, writes Emily Clark. The magic embraces you, the instant you enter the gorgeous Georgian townhouse and we were greeted warmly by the friendly reception staff and directed efficiently to our room for the night.
Residing in a spacious suite on the third floor, the room was a compelling combination of
vibrant design and minimalist, almost Bauhaus appeal. Making a positive nod in the direction of feng shui, with an intriguing East meets West vibe, the all-pervading sense of tranquillity fills the space to perfection and, let‘s face it, after a hard day spent in the City, whether socially, or with work commitments, there is scarcely anything more desirable. The bedroom was predominated by a very large, eminently accommodating and supremely comfortably sprung bed, which simply demanded to be pounced upon. In the centre of the room, adorned with finest Egyptian cotton sheets and delightfully fluffy and plump-upable downfilled pillows, a good night‘s rest was a given.
Some fascinating little home comforts helped to complete the accommodation offering, with a selection of the latest monthly magazines to delve into, should the company, the television, the radio, or dinner, not prove more entertaining. Alongside the fastboiling
kettle was a good selection of delicious herbal and both fragrant and everyday teas,
as well as delicious coffee and biscuits. Of course, the bathroom was exceedingly well-specified and a high quality array of firstclass beauty essentials was provided to satisfy hair, shower, freshness and conditioning requirements.
Breakfast was served in the adjoining Gail’s, an artisan bakery that served a host of tasty
comestibles. We were treated to a continental breakfast and enjoyed a basket of freshly baked bread and croissants, accompanied by homemade jams and mini-pots of natural yoghurt sprinkled with sweet and crunchy muesli. Boasting 78 individual and eclectic rooms (£170 + VAT per night), this unique hotel is the perfect base for visiting central
London and its calming presence wafts away the bustle of the Capital, with its tranquil oasis and lovely quality.
