Run like a Spartan!

The Spartan Race in Morzine-Avoriaz is a definite test and includes running, climbing, and crawling across picturesque, but difficult ground. Participants can expect thick mud, unique and challenging obstacles, and to be pushed to their endurance limits.

After Munich, Rome, Madrid, Paris, and Valmorel in the winter, Morzine-Avoriaz will enter the Spartan Race world. It is worth noting that the race will be the first one at altitude in Europe.

Date: 2nd and 3rd July

5,000 competitors will take part in 3 different types of races:

Sprint: 7km and 15 obstacles

Super: 13km and 20 obstacles

Beast: 20km and 25 obstacles

The second Triathlon de la Madeleine

This triathlon is not for the faint-hearted! The resort of Saint-François-Longchamp, at the foot of the Madeleine pass in the Maurienne Valley, organises one of France's most difficult triathlons, on 27th August. The Triathlon de la Madeleine involves a vertiginous climb to cycle and run, after swimming 750m in the Saint-Rémy-de-Maurienne Lake.

Awesome! Spend a night in suspended portaledge above Lake Annecy

You cannot beat sleeping in a portaledge which is a standalone hanging tent system designed for rock climbers who spend multiple days and nights living on the edge! Inax Aventure organises such experiences overlooking the stunning Lake Annecy.  Of course, climbers will be accompanied by an expert mountain guide.

After 3 hours of hiking and a 100m abseil, enjoy a traditional Savoyard dinner before falling asleep on the portaledge. In the morning, after breakfast, there is another 100m abseil for the return.

You cannot beat a holiday which includes a challenge and there will be super photography opportunities on any of the above activities, for sure!
