Food debate with top chefs
The opening of the festival, which is arranged in cooperation with MAD Symposium among others, welcomes international stars and a special social meal in The Black Diamond.

The host Adam Price, restaurateur and scriptwriter of tv-series ‘Borgen’, the Lebanese Kamal Mousawak of Souk el Tayeb, the Brazilian Alex Atala of D.O.M. and the Dane Christian F. Puglisi of restaurant Relæ will ignite a debate on the social aspects of the meal.

Afterwards a social meal at a lavishly decorated table inspired by Danish painter Krøyer’s ‘Hip Hip Hurra’ painting awaits. This year’s Copenhagen Cooking signature photo pays tribute to this painting – although in a new setting in Copenhagen. The photo depicts the meal as a social event, which is also the theme for the festival this year.

Foodie events all over Copenhagen
Copenhagen Cooking, which takes place for the ninth time this year, will focus on ‘social food’ with street kitchens, food trucks, dinner underground and on the sea. The festival celebrates both Nordic and international cuisine with dinners, markets, cookery schools, street kitchens, Michelin dining and more.

Copenhagen’s public spaces will play an important role during Copenhagen Cooking, and this year the city’s vibrant Vesterbro area joins in the fun with culinary delights from Singapore. The owner of Singapore restaurant namnam and co-founder of restaurant Noma, Claus Meyer, has invited chefs directly from Singapore’s hawker centre to Copenhagen to conjure up authentic street food at various stands in the heart of Vesterbro.

Plenty of new Nordic foodie events awaits as well. From Nordic Taste, where Scandinavian restaurants offer small dishes to dinners and markets focusing on local produce.

The opening is arranged in cooperation with MAD Symposium, Supermarco, The Royal Library and Wonderful Copenhagen.

The Copenhagen Cooking programme will be available at during August.
