The specialist tour operator Wild Frontiers is running this 47-days Great Silk Road Adventure.  It includes Xian's Terracotta Warriors, Kashgar Market, the legendary Silk Road city of Samarkand, the mosques and madrasahs of Isfahan and Istanbul's Blue Mosque.

Join like-minded souls and travel 12,000kms mostly overland, crossing 6 countries and taking in some of the world's most spectacular scenery, ranging from desert to mountains, and grasslands. Accommodation will be based in a combination of comfortable hotels and small guesthouses.

The trip provides an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to follow in the footsteps of some of the most famous names in world exploration, such as Marco Polo, Zhang Qian and Ibn Battuta.  Exploring this ancient route has done so much to shape the world we live in today.

Naturally, the tour will appeal to those with an interest in history and culture, and those with time on their hands.  Whether it is retired travellers, or those taking a sabbatical from work and wishing to gain memories of a life-time.

Participants will be in safe hands as Wild Frontiers is one of the UK's leading experts in tours to Central Asia.  They offer a variety of group tours and tailor-made holidays throughout the region, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and even Afghanistan.

The company was founded in 2002 by travel writer Jonny Bealby, author of Silk Dreams, Troubled Road, a book about his 3000-km journey by horse from Kashgar to the Caspian Sea.
