Why not fly high above stunningly beautiful Lake Hillier in a light aircraft? It is hard to imagine such a wonder of nature is actually real. Lake Hillier appears as a solid pink colour, separated from the blue Southern Ocean only by a thin rim of white sand and dense woodland of paperbark and eucalyptus trees. It is truly a photographers dream.

This new flight experience allows wondrous views of Lake Hillier. Interestingly, nobody understands why the lake is pink. It is thought that the beautiful colour comes from a dye created by bacteria that lives in the salt crusts. The lake is located on the wild Recherche Archipelago, a protected nature reserve off the coast of Esperance.

Price: From around £695 per flight that can seat up to 5 passengers.

Utterly magnificent creatures

Taking a dip with humpback whales and whale sharks at Nigaloo Reef takes some beating. There will be no room for disappointment on such a holiday experience. From June 2016 visitors will be able to swim with humpback whales at the World Heritage-listed area. It is great news that the West Australian government has granted licenses for just a few operators to offer humpback whale swimming to visitors.

Please note that tours will run from June until October (whale sharks can be seen from late March until July). Find out more about making your holiday to Western Australia an especial one by visiting:
