The ‘new’ elephant safari

Let’s redefine the African safari experience and not just focus on an album of decent photographs.  Nowadays, you can contribute to conservation, be part of meaningful cultural interactions and experience a whole lot more.  Interestingly, the safari specialists Real Africa are providing amazing safaris and it good to see that the company donates on a per person basis to a specific project.

The concept provides new 'Conservation' safari experiences which can be incorporated into a longer tailor-made safari. Guests reside at particular properties actively involved in community and conservation projects, from Singita Pamushana in Zimbabwe, to Elephant Watch Camp in Kenya's Samburu.  As many travellers wish to contribute to conservation, as well as enjoying a holiday, this is an ideal way of easing one’s conscience whilst enjoying the experience.

It is good to know that Elephant Watch Camp's guides are trained to recognise all of the elephants on the reserve and work alongside experts from Save The Elephants.  This worthwhile charity was founded by Saba Douglas-Hamilton's father, Dr Iain Douglas-Hamilton, who is considered one of the world's most respected experts on African elephants.
