This event is running from 10th to 11th October and is ideal for families.  English Heritage events never disappoint as learning is cleverly wrapped into a fun experience, especially for children.

Visitors can watch in awe as hundreds of re-enactors from across the UK and France get ready for battle with the horses of the Norman cavalry.  Immerse yourself in how it once was with wood smoke drifting from white tented encampments and just imagine the awesome scene which defined the epic clash that defined English history.

There is plenty to do for all ages with a packed programme available to keep visitors entertained throughout the day.  Why not get up close to the knights and their horses in the cavalry encampment?  Alternatively, experience medieval life and watch the chain mail and weaponry makers, or take an entertaining look at the Bayeux Tapestry.  Learn all about the events leading up to the battle in a specially commissioned play. Marvel at the medieval falconry and also take the opportunity to see if you have what it takes in the archery sessions.

This event is always popular and it is advisable for visitors to obtain tickets in advance.  To book tickets and to find out more about other exciting English Heritage events taking place around the UK, please telephone 0870 333 1183
