The CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival is a big highlight and runs from 30th September to 3rd October. The events will take advantage of the cathedral city's bustling pub culture, with a pop-up Village Green at the heart of the city's market place.

CAMRA St Albans Beer & Cider Festival

The choice is endless with more than 350 real ales, ciders, perries and foreign beers to sample. There will also be new beers available.  Naturally, sporting events are an ideal accompaniment to enjoying a pint and the Rugby World Cup ( England v Australia) match will be screened live on the Saturday.

Food and drink galore

Visitors can enjoy a pint and delicious food at one of 10 pop-up bars on the Everglades Village Green. The city has also been experiencing a quirky foodie trend, with a number of independent restaurants and diners creating a buzz.  Why not glean a few invaluable cookery tips at the Chef's Theatre, with Masterchef finalist Theo Michaels, and Michelin-starred chef Phil Thompson offering live cooking demonstrations.

Interestingly, St Albans has one of the oldest markets in the country. Its charter market is the longest running regular market held in the same place (for over 1,000 years) in the UK.  The market is definitely worth a visit.
