Fans of Jake Quickenden (X Factor and I’m a Celebrity fame) can watch him perform on 7th June at 3pm.  There will also be plenty of other great performers, acts and groups entertaining visitors on the day, including Friggitt, the Vagrant’s Crew, Short Drag Roger and the Fishwives Choir.

If baking is your passion then valuable tips can be gleaned from the Great British Bake Off star Cathryn Dresser.  Keen bakers can also enter the Maritime Bake-Off competition which Cathryn is judging (7th June 12.30pm at the pier) and also purchase a copy of her new book ‘Let’s Bake’.

Do take time to watch talented sand sculptor Mark Anderson create awesome works at the festival. The display will be taking place on Three Shells Beach and will provide great photography opportunities.

Of course, learning more about Southend’s nautical heritage is a must-do and visitors can watch experts working on the 17th Century wreck of The London.  A fascinating talk will be lead by Rafal Zahorski who will be flying in from Poland to discuss the renovation of The Bembridge.  The ship was an iconic landmark at Leigh-on-Sea for many years. Exciting work is taking place in Katowice to restore The Bembridge back to its former magnificence, although it is a delicate and time-consuming task.

Luckily, children will have the opportunity to burn off energy on the Boogie Beach Stage and Adventure Island will be hosting a Pirate Weekend to keep them entertained.  Hilarious antics will also be provided by a traditional Punch & Judy show.
