Marking the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a special exhibition at Buckingham Palace will bring together an unprecedented array of the
dresses, uniforms and robes worn for the historic event. Paintings that recorded the event, works of art and objects used on the day will be included as a means to recreate the atmosphere of that extraordinary historical moment with the pageantry of a State occasion that has remained unaltered essentially for 1,000 years. The Palace Ballroom will be transformed into the centre of the largest-ever exhibition about the Coronation. It is
here that the various items will be brought together for the first time since 1953.

The Queen’s Coronation 1953 is part of a visit to the Summer Opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace, 27th July to 29th September 2013. Advance tickets and visitor information: www.royalcollection.org.uk or 0207 766 7300.
