This well-deserved 4-star hotel is set in the magnificent Warwickshire countryside, in Shakespeare country, yet conveniently located to get to via road or rail.

The hotel boasts an impressive 8 acres of breath-taking landscaped gardens, on our arrival, we took advantage of the good weather, and enjoyed a refreshing cold drink overlooking a perfectly manicured lawn with wonderful flower beds and mature trees. We watched a wedding party avail themselves of the scenery for what will certainly be stunning photographs. The hotel is ideal for celebrations, having a range of function rooms to fit all occasions.

We stayed in one of the suites, an elegant and stylish room. Very spacious, it included a seating area, a large, extremely comfortable bed, and whilst there was a range of period features, including sash windows and a cast-iron fire place, these were matched by up to date technology including Wi-Fi and a large flat screen TV with a range of digital channels.

The experience was completed by a large bathroom, complete with power shower, and luxury Arran Aromatics toiletries.

We were looking forward to dinner in the AA Rosette awarded Shilton restaurant, having viewed the menu earlier. We enjoyed delicious cocktails prior to our meal in the Warwick bar – I consider myself a Cosmopolitan connoisseur, and this did not disappoint!

On to dinner itself, we were spoilt for choice in trying to decide what to have from the extensive menu. After deliberation we decided on a smoked salmon starter, whilst I had lamb for my main course, and my partner chose the beef cheek. We were delighted with our choices, it was great to know that as many as possible of the ingredients were sourced locally, including the meat, and the food was impeccably cooked with accompaniments that complemented the main dishes. A cheese board and Belgian chocolate fondant completed the meal.

Following a final nightcap, we retired to our room, and slept soundly in the extremely comfortable bed. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning in the restaurant, a large choice of continental breakfast items was included along with the traditional full English option, we went for a retro boiled eggs and soldiers, and weren’t disappointed, as they were cooked to perfection.
